I have to disagree with that one.Have had my rhino in for a long time now and no fading not covered used in a truck for hauling wood, moving you name it no complaints. My new superduty im getting tomorrow will have the rhino as well.I work in a bodyshop as a painter i can tell you that about half of the complaints out there about rhino are because the person who did it did not prep it good enough. As for fading who cares its in the bed of a truck how many people do you all know that go around looking inside someones bed to see if there liner is faded.....Not me...lol anyways its just like if they dont sand your truck good enough before paint and get all the wax, oil, dirt and contaminets up then it will bubble, peal, blister or what not....Just my 2 cents.
I suggest if it's possible look at a few trucks side by side that have different kinds then you can see the difference in the liners. You'll know when you start looking at them.
I hate to say it but I have never heard of any cheap liners that are good too. I think this one is the old....you get what you pay for. I know 5 people that have gotten the liner from Auto Zone. All five have gotten the Line X within 6 months after wasting 100.00 plus. These are 30,000 dollar trucks and the last thing you want to do is skimp on a 350.00 dollar bed liner.
I talked to the guy who does the local rhino liners before I got my first one. he told me that the prep work really makes the difference...
He said "on the average truck, first, the bed has to be cleaned with a degreaser, second, any rust has to be sanded to bare metal, third, scuff the paint with wet or dry sand paper, fourth, remove tie downs and hardware, fifth, clean the bed again with acetone, sixth, mask off the area to be sprayed, lastly, the easy part is spraying in the liner"
if you take all the time involved, add in the materials, $300-350 is pretty fair. think about it, if I offered you $300 to come over and do all that to my truck, would you do it?
I am going to be trying the Herculiner in my truck in the next week. I have a buddy that does body work and he is going the spray it for me. He has done it before and says that it works very well. He has used the Dupli color, I believe, and said that it was terrible. Ill tell you all how it went when we are done.
I just called a local rhino liner dealer and was qouted $389 out the door and the line x told me $415 i think i may keep calling around...prices sound a little high for a short bed superduty.
I have had a rhino for 6 years no problem, we have them in all our company trucks that see alot of abuse, had one tear from pushing 3000lb pallet of brick in the bed with forklift, took it in and they fixed it no questions asked. I`ve seen alot of other sprayed in liners that look like textured paint, haven`t seen anything else I would buy. just my opinion,
Just got my line-x liner installed last week. They removed all hardware and sprayed it in. All bed bolts, tailgate access panels, tie downs, etc. Looks good. Paid $384 for a long bed w/o rebate (wife bought it for christmas and just got it done). Takes about 2 hours to do if the bed is clean. I cleaned mine and drilled some 5/16 drainage holes before. There is a $20 rebate offer right now. I just got black. Colors add about $150! Friend has a rhino that was done in 99. Peeled in places and very faded.
My truck has the 8 foot bed and the plastic on tops of bed rails. That saves a few $$$ on installation. Owner showed me his as a demo. He said he hauls 55 gallons drums and other things and it looked good to me.
Thought about doing that to my trailer deck, but the cost will stop that Idea.
