Hi guys! Some of you told me that my photo gallery wasnt working so I have updated my photos of my 1968 Ford truck and my 1969 SCJ Mach 1. Please feel free to visit my site and check them out. http://community.webshots.com/user/william2300
I had a 1970 boss 302 that I sold when I found this Mach 1. The SCJ was rotisserie restored when I bought it, but unfinished and I did the final re-assembly and factory markings...........
The truck I bought from an original owner who restored it in early 1988 and showed it until 1994 then just kept it in a gargage and drove it sundays, weather permitting. I bought it in 2001. I am in the process of putting some stuff back to original like the door panels, seat cover, and a headliner. I am going for that "original" look but "sitting low" kind of truck. It had an air type bag suspension in the coil springs but I replaced it with the lowering I beams and rear hangers, etc. That is the way to go if you want to lower your I beam truck, the ride is great! It currently has an add-on A/C unit which I plan on taking out and getting a vintage air unit installed this spring. I never really liked the factory units as they tend to take up alot of leg room. It is also a 3spd trans and I am going to change it to an automatic here in a month or so as I found a donor truck with a perfect automatic column and the other parts that I needed for the switch over. Other than the A/C, I hope to have it looking stock.
Excellent F100 and a beautiful Mach 1. I had a 69 Mach1, mine had a 351 4 V. I still have a 65 F/B GT and a 67 F/B 390. Also have a nice orginal 69 F100. Your vehicles are super nice.
I like the way that your truck sits. I want to do the same with my truck. I have a1969 F-100 Ranger with a 390. I want to put an air suspension under it. Do you have any pics of how your is hooked up? Did you install it yourself? If so how hard was it to do? Where did you find the kit? I want to do something like that with my 69. I am going to paint it black just the way it was when it was new. I want to try to have it looking as great as your truck.
Thanks for the compliments guys!
The bed rails.......wish we all could find them and buy them. I dont know of anywhere you could get them, mine were put on many years ago and fortunately still look new.
AS for the air ride system that was on my truck, I dont recommend it at all. The one that was installed on my truck when I got it was simply an air bag that sat inside the coils that raised the truck up when air was put in them. Truck still didnt ride good. Lowering I beams is the way to go. My truck is actually sitting a little lower than it was when I took those pics. It also rides WAY better.
