Gas Guage issue...please help

I have a 94 Bronco F/S XLT with a 5.0...The issue happens only a few times a year and I have no idea what is causing it. The needle on the gas guage moves like a speedometer until the truck warms up to 150 degrees. It's wierd and I cannot find any electical gremlins and broken wires anywhere. The speedometer moves normally but the gas guage follows. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

either you have an electric issue between the gauge and sender in the tank . or the sender itself is starting to go.

I thought it might be the sending unit. But it shows no sign of problems. The truck has only 72,000 miles on it too. I guess I can try and replace it to see if it is the problem. Thanks

Unless it's completely broken I wouldn't bother replacing the sensor. That's IMHO.

thats what im saying check the elec connection on at the tank and wiring going from it. if everything checks out then you know its the sender. mine doesnt work at all and probably hasnt for a long time. if you do go in to replace the sender might as well replace the pump to. because its not fun droping the tank to work on this

Dropping the tank is never fun, especially when the quick disconnect lines above the tank refuse to disconnect because of dirt in them

Of course, when the fuel pump goes, that's a little difficult to ignore , but that's not very likely before 100k or so.

also if you dont want to drop the tank there is another way. you can cut a whole in the floor of the rear cargo area directly above the pump. do a search on this forum because there was a pretty good write up regarding this with measurements and everything to make it real easy. then you can just make that into a door of sorts and pull carpet back over
