What should I do???

My college classes started a couple of weeks ago and I have a question. In one of my classes there is a guy that sits a couple of seats away from me. He always sits by himself and seems kinda shy. I can relate because I'm kinda this way to. My question is I want to talk with him, but don't really know how to break the ice. For this class we use their online system to get assignments and stuff and I thought about sending him an email, but didn't know if that was too corny. Let me know what I should try.

Lock your keys in your truck and ask for a ride home. Keep an extra set in your pocket if it does not work.

Just start up conversation "hey, howsit goin"? usually works or "this class sucks/rocks" Ask him which other courses hes taking and what hes planing on doing.
Try to find out what he's all about.
like:
find out what his interests are, music, movies, cars.

If you're lucky he might be into ford trucks too!

Sorry I asked that previous question. Just sound like one of those high school "girl want to talk to boy but is shy" thing. Just go up to him like you would anyone else, introduce yourself, shake his hand, and keep doing small talk from there. He's human just like you, puts his pants on one leg at a time

The e-mail thing seems a little stalkerish...just my opinion. It'd be a lot less creepy to start b.s.ing during/before/after class. Trust me, I've been in college for a whole lot of years!
