MAP sensor help

My truck started running poorly so i retrieved the codes from the computer. It showed a code 22 (map sensor: Sensor signal out of normal range). According to the manual this was a continuous code. This is the second time i have had this code, i replaced the MAP sensor about 4 months ago, now the same problem is back. Does anyone have any suggestions as why the sensor keeps going bad, or what else would cause it to go bad?

thanks

b

Check you vacuum line to the MAP sensor, check your wire harness plug in at the sensor, if these are all good it very well be a bad sensor. This is an electrical thing and will do the wierdest thing.

Thanks for the help Nodakford, i will check these.

My buddy told me that a prblem with the EGR valve could cause too much manifold pressure and make the map sensor read out of range. Have you hear this also?

Before you put your money in a replacement sensor have Autozone test the one you have. If you need one get one there with a warranty and your troubles are over. Not sure about the EGR thing but it does sound possible as a stuck EGR will cause a poor running condition. Many times it is easy to remove the EGR and check the pintle for free movement. This also presents an opportunity to remove possible carbon buildup around the pintle and also the hole the EGR mounts to. That can get filled with carbon. Locate and purchase a new gasket BEFORE you take everything apart.
