have a hyaundai accent with about 70000 miles, it was running perfect, then all of the sudden, started misfiring like hell. pulled the codes and it was showing misfire on cylinders 1 and 3. thought it might be a coil pack, but its 1 cylinder from each pack. so replaced spark plugs, nothing changed, pulled the wires and they spark to block so i know theyre getting spark, and i know its dumping fuel because the catalytic converter was glowing red. im lost. can anyone please help?
is it really dumping fuel or is it to lean? just a idea on the vw's i sometimes find a vac, leak as a missfire cause.have you checked all the rubber hoses? at 70g's its just maybe some thing to look at. vw's are my line so i'm just thinking minor as you say it ran good untill. the faults where p0300, p0301 and p0303? nothing else? i mean this just a thought give all the hoses a look and pinch maybe one is leaking. os soft ? don't have any other ideas.good luck
actually solved it! i bought new wires in the hope that it was something as simple as this and it was, i guess the old ones would spark, but not enough. thanks for your input, ill give all the hoses a check tomorrow.
glad it was some thing simple. to many times people tend to think major prolem when the fault is simple. even i tend to forget with all this coil over plug we have now, people ask how can a wire go bad? they find it hard to understand its not really a wire any more just a conductive carbon covered string. vw has only 1 motor in the usa still having them and i personally find they start failing at about 60k.some times sooner. only way to be sure is a volt ohm meter against a new one's reading. happy motoring
