Did anyone else catch Jim Cantori of The Weather Channel last night? During one update he was flipping about an inch of snow into the air so we could see how the wind could blow it into drifts. Then about ten minutes later we was back on and his face was red and wet and he was telling us how bad the blowing snow was. It was obvious that he had just rubbed snow all over his face to make it look like he had been out there all night. What a dork!
Well we in Massachusetts are under a blizzard warning from now until 8 am tomorrow, we are expecting 15-30 inches of snow with winds sustainded at 35-45 mph with gusts up to 55-60 mph.....the massachusetts coast might get winds up to 70 MPH with 15-20 foot seas with freezing sea spray........so Jim Cantori doesn't need to be dramatic or run his face in the snow.....just being outside will make him a dork.
I will be out all night plowing this crap. Of course in my work F-360 dump truck with a fisher 9ft plow......

I feel for you man......just be careful out there!
i have to agree, they tend to get a bit over the wall ,from the parking lots at the food stores to the lines of cars at the local gas stations like from the 70's. they have every one scared they are not going to get out for weeks. the worst should be over by noon sunday around here. we have got penty of food , wood , books, and if needed i can hit one of the stored boats for gas. i have to live with mother nature not try to bet her. this part of nj is under a 18 to 24 inch watch, when its over i'll go and clean. just a fact of life i guess
YEP, the WC is a bit over the top.
The only time I can take them is in a situation like the 2004 Hurricane Blitz we went through! Although ALL the local channels were on that one wall to wall until the storms knocked them off the air! As long as you had cable and electricity you could depend on the WC!
The Weather Channel drives me nuts because you can't ever find out anything about the weather. All I want to see is just the satellite view and the forecast, then I can move on with my day. I can't ever manage to catch any real information about the weather on The Weather Channel. They are either too busy making a storm out to be ten times worse then it is or they are in the middle of an episode of Storm Stories.
I gave up on that channel a long time ago, so much easier to just look at the information on the internet.

Yea Dork I agree. It was nothing like they said it was going to be.
I hear Weather people are lawyer flunkies anyways.

I don't know about that last comment. I am a meteorology student right now in North Dakota and the law program and meteorology program have very little in common other than both can be pretty difficult and require a lot of work. Meteorology requires as much math(calculus 1-3) and science (computer science, chemistry, physics 1 &2) as engineers in addition to Meteorology course work like thermodynamics, forecasting and many others. Law students don't take nearly that much math and science. Not trying to start a flame war or nothing. By the way, even my meteorology professor said the weather channel went overboared on the storm, which hit us pretty hard too.

What I'm saying is that not all Weather people can get a story correct and it is hard for us contractors.
i just always get a kick out of them when they are standing in the middle of a blizzard or huricane. its like we can see outside or even with a camera we can see it is bad why are you standing it telling me not to go outside. you are outside..... arnt you.
