Craftsman Electrical-HELP Snow Comming

I am not actually shure if this is a garage workshop topic, but i keep mine in the garage.

I have a 19.5 HP Crafsman ride on mower and I need help with the wiring on it. It will start everytime but when i shut it down i am unable to start it because it has blown the fuse. It only has one fuse between the starter solinoid and the ignition switch. I am not shure how come the fuse blows, i will up date it as i work on it.

I had something like this happen on an old tractor once. I think the whole starter solenoid was falling apart and shorting to the frame.

In your case I'd check for shorts or partial shorts through the solenoid coils to ground with the battery disconnected. If you have a voltmeter, check the resistance to ground. Divide into 12V and you have the amps.

Your problem sounds more like low resistance (bad innsulation, loose connector touching ground sometimes) than a true short since the fuse holds long enough to actually start the tractor. Perhaps a connector that moves just enough to hit the frame as the engine kicks over or a frayed wire -- always can hope for cheap and simple...
