As far as I'v seen all you realy need is a donor axle,a F-350 dana 60.Not a 50.And it has to be a ford axle, dodge and chevy has the pumpkin on the right side,Ford is on the left. And possibly have to mount the track bar mount on the frame rail.Alot easier than us guys with a 150.Good luck on your project, happy wheeling.
Thanx Mudrooster. Ive found a dana 6o front but i was just kinda curious what i was getting into. Does the year of the axle matter? what am i gonna get into on power steering and driveline?
Ford used a metric bolt pattern for a while on the F250 and F350 trucks. I think this was in the later 90's but I would suggest looking into that more your self.
There are plenty of people swapping these axles like you want to. I can not answer all of your questions but some time spent surfing around should give you the info you need. I have yet to see the swap being a common thing on this site. It tends to be a hotter topic in more of the off road type sites.
Dumas, look for a Dana 60 straight axle from an '86-'97 F350 4x4. Get the front driveshaft, track arm, track arm bracket off the frame, and all the steering linkage for it too.
RTM, the metric wheel bolt pattern is used on '99-up Superduty body F250/350's. It is 8x170mm (about 6.7") and is hub-centered. The '97-down F250/350 trucks use 8x6.5" bolt circle and are lug-centered.
