AOD gearing

Hey y'all, I was wondering something. I currently have an AOD in my truck and would like to know if there is any way to change the gearing for each of the gears. the 1-2 upshift is fine, but the 2-3 and 3-4 are dogs. they're so far apart that it goes from 3000 in 2nd to 2000 in 3rd. with moderate throttle that gets me nowhere. If a change to the original is not possible, would a unit from TCI or B&M have different gear ratios possibly? What about a transmission from a later year? Ideas? I already wanna swap the rear-end (If I keep this axle) up to a 3.73 or so, would that help enough and not make those upshifts so bad?

For what I post about changning you might be saying "shut-up and buy a different truck," but you know how you can get attached...

1989 F-150 : 5.0, shorty headers, Flowmaster cat-back, K&N filtercharger intake, March pulleys, "Multi-brand" performance ignition, soon to be Mass-Air...doesn't know she's not a Mustang

P.S.: My truck and I have been together one year as of today!

AOD gearing

look in the ford mtorsport catalog, they have a set of different gearratios for 1 and second gear for the aod. if you put gears in go with 4.10 if you have a 5.0 and a factory stall converter. i have 3.90 and they aren't steep enough. if i had a 351 they would probably be ok
