Couple questions?

I just got in my new headers and h-pipe from bassani. They appear awesome! My question is are the gaskets pretty good or should i get another brand? and header bolts to? Maybe stage 8 bolts? Also i got in my bbk 56mm throttle body. Do i need a new chip to run this size throttle body? Oh by the way my bronco is a 1992 with 351w.

The Bassani Header gaskets are awesome ! Dont use any sealant with them. I installed my headers a year ago with no leaks. I went with Go-breslin locking header bolts instead of the supplied. They are spendy but wont back-out. As for the TB I also have the 56 twin installed with no chip and my 96' 351 runs like a champ.

How hard was it to install the headers? Thinking of doing it myself.Did you get their h-pipe? The h-pipe i got was for cats, they sent the h-pipe then this other pipe that i guess is the cat. It isn't like any other cat i've seen. Piece of pipe that gets alittle fatter then tapers back down, it's got kind of a honeycomb shape inside. I think all the tubing is 3". Would it sound good if i put a flowmaster 40 series on this? thanks, Randy

Back it up with Bassani's stainless Street Thunder muffler and tailpipe. Thats what I've been running for two years. Sound is fabulous and stainless won't have to be replaced in two years. Not to mention that the muffler is tuned to work perfrctly with the headers and high-flow cat setup. Everything even mounts on the stock exhaust hangers, just swap the factory stuff for the Bassani. Can't get any easier.

The headers are a PITA. It took me and a friend about 8 hours to finish. If you do it on your own use a lot of WD-40 or whatever and soak the manifold bolts a day prior to install. I have the Bassani headers and SS Catback and love them. I will be getting the y-pipe when money permits. You mentioned the Stage-8 header bolts and from what I've heard they can be pain. The Go-Breslin are more expensive but they have little set-screws that you torq down that spread the threads out. Locking the bolt in the head. No leaks !

The stainless catback bassani exhaust is that 3" ? What would you say that it most sounds like? I just went and got some of those stainless breslin header bolts today. Thanks for the suggestions. I was really wanting to run 21/2" exhaust for more low end torque but try to keep the exhaust stock looking. I am curious to know what the whole bassani exhaust sounds like? Thanks, Randy

Cant say what the "whole" exhaust would sound like since I'm missing the Y-pipe, but from what I do have I like the sound. Its on the mellow side, just a nice roar. Theres no reverb in the cab. I like the sound of duals better but for a catback it has a nice deep tone.

I do have the complete Bassani system under mine and yes, its 3" all the way through from Y-pipe/crossover all the way to the tailpipe and the tip is 4". The sound is gorgeous. Sitting at idle (stoplight, etc.) its just a low menacing tone that grows in direct correlation to how much you poke the pedal when you take off. No sudden loud pops or cracks just a smooth gradually growing rumble. Unless you romp on it, then its enough to let the silly little rice-burner next to you know just what a real engine is supposed to sound like. I think the best part about this system is the lack of deceleration pops and crackles. We've all heard 'em, they sound great til you let go of the pedal and slow down, then the backpressure is too much and it starts popping and sputtering til the pressure has equalized again....the Bassani setup does NONE of that. Simply put, this system is the best sounding I've encountered. Not harsh but no mistaking whats straining at the leash under the hood either.

Greystreak, do you still have alot of torque with that 3" exhaust? If i remember correct your engine has some of the same modifications i'm planning 56mm bbk, k&n off road filtercharger and bassani exhaust? I am hopping to get a little more out of the engine performance wise. But also heard that 3" exhaust is alttle overkill. Thanks, Randy

Thats why I recommend the complete Bassani setup, the Bassani muffler compensates for the increases in flow rate fromt he 3" pipe. Torque in the 302 saw a mild improvement over stock in as far as I can tell.

Thanks greystreak you have been very helpful. I think after hearing your recommendation I am going to order the cat back system from bassani. I looked at your pictures of your exhaust and your catalytic conv. looks more like a regular cat whereas mine looks more along the lines of a piece of pipe with some steel wool inside. Just one more question, does the exhaust tip come welded to the tailpipe on thier system or bolt on? thanks again.

The tip attaches via an integral clamp on the tip and the tip is chamfered with the Bassani logo embossed in the edge. Allows you to rotate the tip to suit your personal tastes I suppose. It also has a highly polished finished almost chrome in its appearance.
