Push button Transfer case slips into neutral from 4H
Over the summer I replaced the transfer case motor on my 92 f150 302 auto. Everything seemed fine when I tested 4H and 4L. The other day we got some snow so I took it out and put it in 4H, I noticed when I was not accelerating or slowing (the drive train was loose) the t-case would slip into neutral. Pushing the 4x4 button results in either a grind noises or a thump.. Then it is back in 2H and drives fine..
I never had any problems staying in 4H before I swapped the t-case motor. I would have to tap the motor to get it to engage, but once in 4h it stayed in there..
Any ideas what this could be? I noticed the mounting holes on the motor have some play, is there a way I should be aligning it? Could I have a bad motor?
