L&L Headers

Hi A new guy here, I have been a silent member for awhile. Just wanted to say thanks for all the engine info. I got mine together and need headers. I called L&L and they said I have to have a 6 inch lift to use long tube chassis headers on a 79 150 or 250. So my question is that I thought that some of you guys had them on your trucks. Thanks Mike

Why don't you get the fenderwell headers. They fit good and are out of the way working under the truck and changing starters. They look cool too!

In the case of the F250 part number 79750J will not fit if you have a Dana 60 front and you can not use a 10 qt oil pan. I can find now where on there site that would require a 6 inch lift.

The same guy said that the fenderwell would rub on tires wider than 12 inchs wide. Maybe I better talk to someone else.

The tires will rub the fenderwell headers but you can adjust the stops on the front axle so they won't. They just barely rub with 12.5's on a 9.75 wheel.

So did you have any other problems, like melting the plastic inner fender's? That would make the exhust work alot easy'er, and you say they look nice too. That's a plus.

yes the tires will rub on your headers with a wide tire, just like they rub on your radius arms. mine never did melt anything as long as it wasnt rubbing the header. but they did look really good hanging out like that. i wish i had apicture maybe i can find one.

I thought about the 3/4 lenght but they said would not have any made till mid february and with the long tube you should get a little more performance. On the fender exit does the collector come out and down by the cab mount.

I am in the process of a 460 swap and have been tossing the header dillemna around for 3 months. I have friends with the l & l fenderwell headers and don't have a problem with rubbing 35 inch tires. (6 in lift). I bought the hedman huslers yesterday and these are a very nice set of headers. A little trimming on the front cab mount perches and they were in, and the fit is impressive. These are larger tube than the l & l. and take a little more room. I have 36 in. swampers and 9 in lift. When I move it out of the shop this weekend and get the tires on it I will update.

You will have better luck getting them from one of their dealers. I ran into the same thing when I bought mine. I can't remember who I got mine from, its been a long time ago.

I had the same problem locating l & l headers too. broncograveyard was out of stock and so was l & l. I know national tire and wheel also sells them but I did not try. I just went to summit and bought the hedman huslers. I hadn't seen these headers actually installed before I bought them but my friends have the l&l fenderwells, and I don't want to sound like I am spamming hedman, but I'm glad I bought them rather than the l & l.

National Tire was where mine came from! I have ran both Heddmans and L&L's and they both fit good. I switched to Heddmans for SCJ head flange and bigger tube size. I think for a truck I was going to drive alot the L&L's are a better choice because they will outlast the heddmans. Price wise I think the L&L's are a better deal.
