I have a 1999 f150 2wd ext cab. I am gonna put some helper springs on the rea this weekend but to get the u-clamp to go iver the spring i have to loosen the bolt that holds the leafs together and align them back up (one has shifted to the side some. My ? is will it be ok to loosen this bolt up and straighten the springs and then toghten it back so i ca install the helpers. Any advice will help.
I wouldn't loosen the centering bolt unless you have a new one and ready for it to come appart.
To answer your question about the springs being outa wack. It happened to my 86 F150 the bottom FAT spring went cokeyed and I dodn't loosen anything I just beat the living daylights out of the spring with a 2lb sledge and it went back straight.
Try that before you loosen stuff, then install your helpers.
