I have found an 04 with its 3000 rebate & 1000 ford credit, it will save me 3000 over an 05.
What HP is the 04?
WHat are some good mods to do with the $3000 I am gonna save?
I like the idea of tried and true, i.e. a throttle cable, the 4 speed auto, and the old front end. Rather than the Fly by wire throttle, the Torqshift, etc.
Any other comments on the 04 from people who have them would be appreciated.
5' tighter turning radius, beefier frame, bigger brakes, available tow command. Those were some of the reason's the $3000.00 savings couldn't pursuade me to buy an '04. IMHO, the '05 is worth every bit of the extra money.
The 2005 V10 has considerably more HP and Torque. The 3 Valve design is the reason for it. I have a 2004 V10, love it. Have nothing but good things to say about it. Ask yourself if you'll really need the extra HP & torque of the 2005 and then decide. You can also get the goodies like the new trailer braking system and coil springs of the '05 too. What will you need it for and where will you be with what you get. Just my $.02
I've had a 2000 F250, and I never had any problem with the steering?
I am looking at the V10.
Thanks.
I had an 03, drove probably 15 more, rode in another 10-15, and the general consensus was, you herded the truck down the road rather than drove it. The 05 steers very nice and the ride is far superior.
I returned my 03 truck for steering problems 3 different times. Once it was aligned, once the service manager took me for a ride in three different trucks on the lot, and all were like mine, and once an engineer who was reviewing my problems told me "thats the way they are, they were all like that".
I believe that is one of the big reasons they went to coils in 05.
I would say It depends on your personal needs, for an everyday driver that you ocassionally work, get the 05, it drives, looks and acts a little more civilized and has more power, and a more refined tranny, and there is something to be said for the turning radius. For fleet or if you plan keeping it for a long time and doing your own repairs, get the 04. the tranny and engines have had time to get bugs worked out and repairs/replacement will be cheaper, the same with the front end. I got an '04 xl 4x4 sc with the old sealed headlights because I do my own repairs, use it for work, and plan on keeping it for 300k mi. I an extremely happy with my 04 and prefer it to an 05 for my application. If I wanted a hot ride, i would get an '05 HD edition.
My 04' F-350 V-10, 6-speed, DRW, 4:30 LS, 14k on it now, drives great also, tires seem to be wearing very well on the front end, truck has not had any problems at all !
And its a worker too, the 9' Fisher plow has been on it a week or so now,big snow coming tonight, the truck pulls my equipment trailers great, tough to beat reliabilty when it comes to spending big bucks.
I see some of the 05's are haveing some tranny problems, and what else ?
i got an 04 XLT sport, 8K on it now and i love it drove an 05 lariat and didn't see that much difference. and i plan on keeping the 04 till it dies so i like that everything on it is tried and true. i would like the tow command and the 3valve but wouldn't trade it for an 05. but 3000 is not much difference at the prices we are looking at for our trucks. but the dealer will deal a lot more on that 04 before it is all said and done it might be a big difference in price! just my .02
I got an 04' acouple months ago and i love it. I like to older stile alot better. But this is my opinion. But i didnt let the dealer know this. I found a lot that wanted to get rid of all the 04s for the 05 s they already had. To make a long story short the sticker on mine was 39.8K and i got it for 29K. With no miles on it.
Look around and you'll find a deal.
