Fords PATS Keys
I just bought a 2002 Escape on 1/8/05, and at the time of the sale they said they lost the jacket to my truck that also happened to contain the second key to my vehicle. They told me they would call me in a few days to tell me if they found it or not and to come up to get a new one made. Well, its two weeks later, I've called the salesman twice and he has never responded to my calls. Now I know how to program extra keys when you already have the two originals. Does anyone know how ford programs the second "original" key when you only have one? I already have blanks cut that contain the chip and I was going to program them as soon as ford gave me the second key, but it seems like it is going to be a hassle getting it now, and free on top of that. Is there anyway I can program one myself with only the one original key? Sorry for the long post.<O

Because he does not want to pay the extra $70+ for the new key and programming.

Basically you start fresh. I use to program keys and what you have to do is get two new keys and reprogram the CPU. It takes about 1/2 an hour with I think the NGS? Been five years since I have done one, I am sure a current tech will step in and tell you what you do for a 2005 Escape.
