i couldnt find this anywhere in the forums so sorry if i missed a past post, i put a granatelli mass air flow sensor, and a poweraid tbs on my '04 f-250 5.4l and the check engine light is now on, i figure its from the air flow sensor any ideas on how to get rid of it,
and there is a kind of high piched hiss at high rpms that i asume is the tbs but im not sure, have you guys heard of them causing noises in any of the trucks, thansk for any info or suggestions
So you disconnected the TPS and the MAF and what else? Check all connections and try putting the old MAF back on. Did you have to drive it to get the light to come on or was it on right away Maybe its a hard failure that would signify a connection or failed part.
That brand is noted for hard failures ,My son has tried that brand on 94 mustang gt ,nothing but problems, all kinds of chk engine lights right after starting .He sent 2 of them back, got his money back.
Take it for what its worth !
They run better stock anyway
Some people kill me, YOU HAVE TO HAVE A CHIP TO RUN THE MAF, you can't just put a bigger MAF on something and think it will run, you can do this with a throttle body, but not with a MAF, your bigger MAF is giving you the check engine light, take i off before you hurt something! A bigger MAF is only good for 6rwhp tops, not worth the money...
Do you already have a chip? The truck comes with a computer (ecm) a chip is something you plug into the ecm to modify the stock settings. Chances are you will have to buy a chip burned for your applacation. You are going to have a lot of money in a chip and MAF, $700 for 10rwhp is a lot of money, I am all for more power, but it sure is expensive, my crown vic with a hot custom burned chip, bigger maf, bigger throttle body, underdrive pullies, colder plugs, no cats, and no fan only makes 25rwhp more then it did stock, it takes a lot of money to get that 25hp, even if you had all the stuff my vic does your truck still wouldn't get that hp to the ground, the 5.4 just doesn't make as much with the mods and the driveline sucks out more power. I really would like more power out of my 5.4, but without a blower I am not even going to bother, 93 octane is to expensive and a waterpump and alternator turning slower are out of the question...
yes it is expensive, found out some things talked to the guys from granatelli and some buddies, found out that my MAF was a 4 pin and my truck is 6 pin , they have same connector and i didnt even think to look but inside one has 4 pins and the other has all six so i have to return and reorder and from what i understand you need to reset your ecm (disconnecting the battery) after adding stuff like this, live and learn right
