Check Engine light
I have an o4 6.0 psd. and recently been getting the check engine light coming on. It comes on after a few miles of driving then after the next start up it sometimes doesnt light up, or after a few start up s it wont. I'm wondering what I should expect to hear from the ford dealership mechs when I take it in. Or what you guys think I should know beforehand. My truck is bone stock with 28k miles. thanks in advance!!

I had that same condition several months ago with my 04/03....and I too suspected (hoped, really) that it was something like a loose fuel cap. Took her in to a local dealer who reflashed and that fixed it. They also ordered a VGT sensor of some kind and replaced that a week or so later as well....but the reflash seems to be the thing that corrected the warning light condition. I was very nervous to have the reflash done due to concerns expressed by others here at FTE, but I've seen no adverse effect at all....if anything she runs better now....mileage is a respectable 17 mpg combined city/highway, no more warning lights and purring like a kitten!
