glowplugs got fried, need an answer
i lent out my truck today, big mistake, it is an 1984 f-250 6.9 diesel, i have pushbutton glowplugs with motorcraft gps in it, my push button is located left from dash cluster, and i wrote right next to the switch hold for 6-8 seconds NO LONGER will damage system, well he held them for he says 15 seconds, and that fried 6 gps motorcraft on top of it all. what i need to know is if i do not activate the gps, can i start it with either without blowing glowplug tips off and ruin my motor, i need this truck till monday then when i get my check the folowing friday i will get new gps. otherwise i will have to find another way.

All but the tiniest sniff of either will just lock it up and hurt parts. So if you except the liability, a carefull, very short shot (from a warm can) will get you going till you can fix the plugs. This is only if you are parked away from electrical and can't do as bilder12 says.

builder is right. Use the block heater. If I plug mine in at night, I don't use the gps. Stay away from the starting fluid. Use wd40. I don't think you would fry 6 motorcraft gps in 15 seconds. He must have held it longer.

thanks for the help i will not use either, i can plug it in at home, but at work maybe i can make arrangements with them, i think i can, it takes about 4 hours don't it? does wd40 still work to get started. thanks a million for fast responses.
