wind noise thru door
I just bought a '86 F-150 super cab and it has a loud wind noise coming from the front of both doors starting at about 50 mph. I can see light between the door and the front of the door frame when I reach this speed. The wind is pushing the weather stripping in and escaping into the cab. The stripping has no tears and looks to be in good shape.
The gap (on the outside) between the pillar and the door is 3/8" all the way to the top of the door. The door fits well (closes easily and securely). All of the stripping and doors seem to be original and the truck doesn't seem to have been wrecked.
My questions are: 1) Can the weather stripping get "soft" with age and not withstand the pressure of a 50 mph wind?
2) Has anyone experienced this kind of thing before?
3) Is that size gap between the door and the pillar normal?
4) If it isn't the weather stripping, then what else might I try?
Thanks in advance
Scott
It is probably the contents of the material that cause this.
Do the hinges look like they have been replaced for any reason.
Maybe a slight adjustment IN will negate your problem ?

Loosen,tip the door,in.
Just watch the gaps and scribe the door where the hinge bolts to it for a reference point before the adjustment.
