Cheap OZ heads?
They are <TABLE id=table4 cellSpacing=5 cellPadding=0 width="41%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD width=406>PowerHeads Price:</TD><TD> </TD></TR><TR><TD width=406> </TD><TD> </TD></TR><TR><TD width=406>Pair Complete </TD><TD>$1075.00</TD></TR><TR><TD width=406>Add On Options:</TD><TD> </TD></TR><TR><TD width=406>Titanium Retainers - 7 or 10 Degree</TD><TD>$65.00</TD></TR><TR><TD width=406>Wire Lock Receiver Grooves - Recommended for NOS and Blowers</TD><TD>$120.00</TD></TR><TR><TD width=406>Mill Deck .020 - .025 to Raise Compression (each)</TD><TD>$20.00</TD></TR><TR><TD width=406>Performance Porting to Maximize Airflow (by hand)
What do y'all think? is that way too much for the heads? I could probabally get the porting done locally for less what do ya think?
</TD><TD>$450.00</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
I don't think that Powerheads are a good idea at all. Stock 2bbl heads are what you want. If you want improved performance, it's the valves you'll want to work on, not the ports.
Don't go to bigger valves because you'll low-lift flow. Use stock size valves but give them a high-performance valve grind.
Ausheads on ebay will sell you stock Austrailian heads for about $300. Or use stock Cleveland 2bbl (not 351M/400) heads. I bought a pair of Cleveland 2bbl heads for $25. Compare the flow of these heads to most other heads and you'll see why they're preferred.
If you're looking for some way to put some zip into your engine, either do a roller cam conversion, or buy a stroker crank.
