Cheap OZ heads?

I found some aussie heads online at: http://www.powerheads.com/351c.html

They are <TABLE id=table4 cellSpacing=5 cellPadding=0 width="41%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD width=406>PowerHeads Price:</TD><TD> </TD></TR><TR><TD width=406> </TD><TD> </TD></TR><TR><TD width=406>Pair Complete </TD><TD>$1075.00</TD></TR><TR><TD width=406>Add On Options:</TD><TD> </TD></TR><TR><TD width=406>Titanium Retainers - 7 or 10 Degree</TD><TD>$65.00</TD></TR><TR><TD width=406>Wire Lock Receiver Grooves - Recommended for NOS and Blowers</TD><TD>$120.00</TD></TR><TR><TD width=406>Mill Deck .020 - .025 to Raise Compression (each)</TD><TD>$20.00</TD></TR><TR><TD width=406>Performance Porting to Maximize Airflow (by hand)

What do y'all think? is that way too much for the heads? I could probabally get the porting done locally for less what do ya think?

</TD><TD>$450.00</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Look around a little more. I hear good things about the company and their rep, but you pay for the name a little too much for my tastes.

Look on Ebay for Ausssie heads.

For $1500.00 you can buy AFD or CHI aluminum heads that will outflow those hand ported iron heads.

You've got 4bbl heads already. But the problem with them is they flow more than you'll need for a street engine in a truck. Ported 2bbl head would have the same problem.

I don't think that Powerheads are a good idea at all. Stock 2bbl heads are what you want. If you want improved performance, it's the valves you'll want to work on, not the ports.

Don't go to bigger valves because you'll low-lift flow. Use stock size valves but give them a high-performance valve grind.

Ausheads on ebay will sell you stock Austrailian heads for about $300. Or use stock Cleveland 2bbl (not 351M/400) heads. I bought a pair of Cleveland 2bbl heads for $25. Compare the flow of these heads to most other heads and you'll see why they're preferred.

If you're looking for some way to put some zip into your engine, either do a roller cam conversion, or buy a stroker crank.

i think you better find out if you have the 1970 dome pistons in the engine, and plan on changing them if you do(including $$$ bore oversize, rings, bearings and gaskets) or you'll need to run it on alcohol. and, as stated earlier, you are at the cost level of finished alloy heads delivered to your door.
