My FX4 has limited slip option. This weekend, in 2WD, with 1 rear wheel on pavement, and the other on ice, on an uphill driveway, the ice wheel spun like crazy, at any speed above idle, and the pavement wheel never even attempted to move the truck. I expected the LS to help out, but it didn't seem to at all. (I finally used 4WD to get away). Here's my questions: Does a properly working limited slip "eliminate" slip, or just "limit" it? Does it engage only in 4WD? Does this sound like a new "clutch-pack" candidate? I don't hear any strange sounds from the rear end.
Thanks in advance for any input. This board is the best!!!

I have the feeling that my LS is working really "eagerly". I have a very tight turn (on paved street) from my garage to the main road. everytime I drive from my garage to the road, I feel a slight "rattly" in the differential -- something is trying to work against the turn. I hope that is normal!
the ford ls is junk i have had it replaced 3 times in my expy limited slips don't have anything to do with preventing slips it just maintains traction and if you take a turn to fast when its wet you will do a 360 no joke the back end will want to pull out
I had an issue with one wheel bouncing slightly in tight turns. I asked the Ford mechanic about it, and he said they could fix that by lowering the torque reuired to make the slip happen, but that would only weaken the purpose of the limited slip diff. If you feel the rear end giving you a hard time in a tight turn, that means it's working.
