I bought a 1992 Ford F-150 about a week ago. When I bought it I knew that their were a few little problems with it but it is my first vehicle so I figure it's good enough for me. It is extended cab and short bed. AIt has power windows, power locks, 302 V-8 and 4 speed automatic. Well my questions are: 1. Their is a key broken off in the drivers side door.Wondered how i could get that out. 2. I was wondering if it had a limited slip differential. On the door it has a code number 19 for the axle. 3. The passenger side door panel has some clips broken off and wondered where I could buy some new clips. Thanks for your knowledge.
P.S. This spring I want to buy a dual exhaust for it. What is the best sounding system out there?
1. For the door lock I don't really know. I might consider taking it to a locksmith and seeing if they can use a tool to remove the key.
2. The axle is the same as mine, no posi/limited slip. Its an open rear with 3.55 gears.
3. I just recently replaced a bunch of them door panel fasteners on my '89. They are cheap and most autoparts stores should have them. Slide off a good one and take it down with ya. I got like 5 for $2.50 in a package. They are alot more brittle and I broke alot of them trying to get them on to the door panel so be carfull. You might want to get more than you need just in case.
Joe hit them all square on the head. Advance, or autozone has the clips and the axle code is correct, open 3.55. Key? May have to replace the cylinder, but take joe's advice and take it by a locksmith
Thanks prcrboy! I thought I might do good on that one.
Only other think I might add is if ya have to get a new lock then you will have to have the locksmith set the lock to your key, do that before ya install it. Also get a can of white lithium greass and spray that stuff in all the joints of your door hardware for the doors and work it in. Will be smooth as a babys bottom! hehe
Also be real carfull removing the plastic vapor barrier cause nobody makes em. I have to make 2 new ones out of 4 mil plastic cause mine are wrecked.
