No passing gear!!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Sep-02 AT 08:23 PM (EST)]I have an '84 F-150 with the 300 and C6 tranny. I noticed my Kickdown rod was disconnected from my carb. Where do I hook it on the carb. (1 barrel)All the hardware on the rod is gone! There's no bracket or anything. How do I fix this? Does anybody have pics? I'm tired of ******* it on these long Arizona hills!

I don't have a picture, but if you have a long hill that is coming up, there is no reason why you can't manually pull it down in 2nd with the shift lever. There is no special "passing gear", it's just 2nd. I would be nice for the unplanned passing manuever though. If you do a little research, don't be surprised if you find someone's put an older carb on that does not have the required throttle lever to make it work.

Check tranny kick down linkage that connects to the carb. It may be out of adjustment or just came off the carb.
