Stock vs. Stock I hate to admit it but the blazer would mop the floor with ya. You could always race him through a mud hole or have a stump pullin contest. You have it all over him then.
I hate to agree...but it's true. I had an F-150 with a 302 and that thing was the slowest vehicle I've ever owned. I swear it felt like it had ZERO power...and it wasn't really that old...it was a '95 model. Don't race a 4.3 Blazer if it's in good shape...it'll dust you like a coffee table.
Especially in a full size Bronco. The 302 in my f-150 is gutless even with a 5 speed. When I floor it to pull out in front of somebody(which in this truck means they're about 1/4 mile away) the stick will layover toward the passenger and the driver side of the truck will pick up a little but the truck just will get out of its own way...
If I drove it more than once every other week, I'd have to do something about the lack of power....

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-Dec-02 AT 00:04 AM (EST)]Maybe if you had the 351, my friend has the type of blazer your talking about its a 2 door and my 96 beats her but not by alot. thier fast little buggers but are no match in towing or off-road. I would say it comes down to how tired each engine is mine only has 60,000 so its still on the young side
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-Dec-02 AT 05:50 AM (EST)]The Chevy has the power to weight ratio on his side, but that 302 in your Bronco has the ability to produce way more power than that 4.3. Plus it doesn't help that your Bronco has at least another 1000 lbs on that Blazer. I will take the Bronco for towing though!
Ive done it before. I had an 89 fulsize with 302. and my buddy had an 88 Jimmy with the 4.3. I had 4.11's in the bronco and i could dust him off the line but about 50 mph i was almost topped out and he dusted me. It was beat to hell too. My bronco didn't have the top end. I coud almost out run him in the F-250 but running with him at high spped was scary.
I raced my friend's '97 Blazer w/ my 302 full size F150 and the Blazer slowly smoked me, I kept right with him for the first 50 feet or so, then he just pulled away. I passed him at 85 on the highway, and when the F150 ran out of pull at about 90, the Blazer still had plenty of power... until he hit the governer at 95. Thats somthing I don't have to worry about with my '89.
