i have a 78 F-250 snow fighter, it has a full time NP203 case in it, the problem is that the truck was unknowingly driven in the lock position for many years by the previous owner....when i got the truck it bucked and kicked around turns and i figured out the shifter linkage is screwed up, and used a crowbar to switch it out of the lock position, it still drives fine but under load it there is a nasty thumping noise coming from the Tcase, especially in low range, sounds kinda like a huge chain slipping around a gear, so i basically power braked without actually spinning the tires so my friend could watch the driveshafts and see if they were moving while it made the noise, they didnt, so its not in either axel, it has to be the Tcase, i couldnt see the C6 tranny making a noise like that, and it was driven in lock for so long that im sure it messed something up......anyone have any extensive knowledge of the NP203 that could tell me if its fairly easy or not to fix my Tcase, i would like to keep all the original parts on my truck if possible, if i have no other choice i will pick one up at salvage.
by sprocket do you mean the one the chain would be slipping on?? cause it slips pretty bad, and what all is in a rebuild kit?? ive never worked on a Tcase before, but im sure i can do this myself....
stretched chain?? sounds better than a sprocket!!!!......it never occured to me, i assumed it would be a stripped sprocket......how far do you have to tear one down to change the chain out??
