Question Fuel Tank problems.

Recently my 84 F250 4x4 (converted from 2x4) has been acting up. When I start the truck it runs fine (front or rear tank) but if I am on the rear tank after I drive for about 3-5 minutes it begins bogging down like it isn't getting gas. Tanks have gas. If I switch to the front tank it did the same thing for a while but isn't doing it now. A friend told me it could be vaccum related and to open the filler neck to let it breathe, if this worked my breather vents are blocked. Well the front tank works now, but the rear has just got worse. I have dropped my rear tank to inspect it, the screen/filter looked pretty dirty so I'll change that, but both pumps (one in each tank) are only a year old. I replaced the fuel filter and the switch valve is also less than a year old, ( I have done some extensive refurbishing on the truck) I am going to look for the breather vents, I assume FORD or NAPA has them, but if that isn't it I'm really baffled. Any suggestions?

have you changed your fuel filter lately? a clogged one can cause the pumps to work harder than they should be...making them wear out sooner.

This is an on going problem with 80s Ford Trucks. I have posted in the past what I have finally done to fix mine. The main thing I did was add an Electric pump and pres. reg. on the frame. This system is junk and was when I worked for a Ford dealer in the 80s. One of my new Ford pumps lasted 3 months. Everything is $150.00 ea.
