What will bolt up??
Hi guys,
You seem to be very knowledgable about different motors so I got this question for you. My friend has a 86 F250 with a 6.9 deisel with an automatic C6 bolted to it. The motor is shot and he want to put in a gas motor. What would bolt up to this tranny if anything. Thanks in advance.

I don't know anything about diesel engines. If you post a picture of the bell housing, I can tell you if something else would fit.
Is the top of the bellhousing flat, if so....how far apart are the bolt holes?

I was under the impression that the diesel used a different bell housing pattern, but I think that is on the newer PS motors. Just based on the torque they put out, I would guess it would have a big block (351m/400/429/460) pattern. Again, as Mike asked, the distance between the top bolts should be somewhere close to 7-1/2" if it's a big pattern. Let us know.
