My 95 Ford Ranger has a problem with the ringer. I'll open the door and it will keep ringing up to 10min or as little as 1. I would appreciate anyones help/info on correcting this problem. Thanks Dave
[QUOTE=poom]Very common... Spray wd40 in the door latch. It will fix your problem.[/QUOTEThanks Poom, tried that and it worked, but later in the day it started ringing again when I opened the door. Do you know how to disable it altogether without tearing up the dash, I tried the fuses but I do not belive it's connected to the fuse box-your advice/help would be appreciated. Thanks
Get the Buzzer buzzing and look under the dash next to the steering column. Or in some I have found it on the drivers side of the foot well next to where the hump starts to rise. It should be a small plastic box about the size of a pack of smokes or so. Most of the time it will have one end with a little square tit, which is stuck in to a medal bracket to hold it in place. With the buzzer buzzing you will be able to hone in on the sound and when you touch the box you will feel it vibrating. I you are unsure that you have the right one, just give the box a squeeze and it should change in tone and pitch. Just unplug it and the noise will quit, it could be left in place if one were so inclined, or like I said earlier, “put it in a nice safe place, a trash can”.
