on my 84' one ton dually, im goin to lift it, but i want to have one large wide tire in the rear, instead of the dual wheels. i think i'll need some type of spacer, but who makes those special rims, or what do i need. if anyone has advise, please help. thanks.
where you located I have been considering converting mine to dual rear wheels Ill will swap ya axles. I have a 83 F-250 and live in san Diego if you are in Socal
i live in norcal, sorry buddy. i know if you go to www.jcwhitney.com they have the dual wheel conversion kits for like $400. but do you have any advise for me?
Depends on how wide ofa tire you are wantng to go I would probably swap out to a SRW axle adn go with however large af a tire you want and have the backspacing set to match the Tire to the Wheel Well Clearance
i dont really have the money to put a new axle in the rear. im thinking of either putting a 16x35x16.5 super swamper bogger in the rear if i go with one rim, or with the 38.5x11x16.5 if i want to keep the dual wheels, but then i dont know if the 11 inch wide boggers would fit on the stock rims. what do u think?
I'm pretty sure 11" tires won't fit on a 6" wide rim. But I've been wrong before.
I have seen a lowrider Chev with a super single on the rear that looked okay. But I don't know how cool or dumb it would look on a lifted Ford 4 by.
Something else I've seen was a newer Super Duty dually with boggers. It appeared he had bought custom 8" dually rims and a 4" spacer for each side to prevent the tires from rubbing each other. Hope that helps.
thats pretty expensive. the guy at the off road shop told me to go to this wheel shop in stockton after i buy the tires, then they can custom make me a rim. i think im going to go with the super single. i would get a bigger footprint in the mud and get better floatation.
Im going the other way around, I have a 94 dodge 2500 that has the rear adapters and duals on it. Lookking to trade my box, wheels and rear dually adapters for just a regular 8' dodge box 94 or newer. I was going to go with the super single like yourself, I think it looks very good. IM tring to remember the web site I had for adpaters and dual conversions but cant remember. If I find it ill pass it on. They would have the adpaters u need to put on then just order a 12 inch wide wheel with a nuetral off set. For anyone interested in my dodge box, I live in Wisconsin.
theres a place in stockton, california which is about 20 minutes away from me, and they specialize in those types of custom dually wheels. i told the guy at the off road shop that i was putting the 16x35x16 inch boggers on there, and he told me to get the 16x12 inch rim. do you think a 16 inch wide tire will work on a 12 inch rim????
