I'm planning on swapping axles and engine out of an F250/350 4x4 w/460 efi. I need to find a donor vehicle for under $1000, and in the mean time I want to know what kind of upgrades I can do to the fuel injection system.
I want to go with a tb spacer, a larger tb(although I don't know what size), new intake manifold (any reccomendations would be great), basically a complete overhaul on the efi.
Has anyone done this before? any info, prices, reccomended stores? I have an 89 F150 4x4 w/ 302 paired to a T18, any of my efi parts interchangeable?
The sensors are about the only thing that will interchange between the 5.0 and 460 EFI manifolds. I have not seen any aftermarket EFI manifolds for the 460.
so really a machine shop is where I can get most of the performance out of? I was just curious. Even though this 460 swap won't be done till the summer I would like to layout some ground work for it to get the most performance out of the motor before I do the swap. I'm thinkin about goin with a stroker crank for the 460 and goin to like 514 cid. I guess a mild cam and definately a larger bore and forged pistons will be more than enough. the 302 performance isn't bad right now, it gets me around town, but there's no replacement for displacement, and I'd much rather a motor swap than forced induction.
I am buying a motorcycle in March so the truck will go from a daily driver to a weekend warrior so gas mileage won't be as much of a concern, I was just hopin to gain more efficiency out of a better fuel injection system. I plan to do the motor, axle, and whatever else I need to swap out in around June.
