Is it me or does a 73-79 150 just work better off road?
I used to have an 86 shorty f-150 w/ straight axle conversion 6" lift 35s
posi front locker rear 4.10 gears and a stock 5.0 4.9 and a built 5.8 over its life (6 years)
Now I just converted a 77 supercab short bed 2x4 to 4x4 with the above mentioned equipment except new rear springs and a stock 300 six w/4bbl and efi exhaust and this thing aint fast but its strong as poop and seems to be great on and off road as compared to the 86 shorty
is this the way all these things are or is it the wheelbase 138" vs 118"?
Im obviously not complaining this is just an observation
Same here I will take my 79 1/2 ton singal cab long bed 4x4 over my 93 extened cab short bed 4x4 any day out on the trails or feilds. I just like old trucks and u can whoop on them to.
i agree i have a 78 f150 6" lift on 35's and she is a pulling machine in the mud and i'm still running stock gears! I wouldnt trade that truck for anything
I agree - the 97 F150 I used to drive couldn't touch my 79 off road. The 97 even had the "off-road" package - though I now question the off-road package's usefulness.
Hard to beat a 73-79 Ford 1/2 ton 4x4 off-road - there's just something about the radius arm set-up.
My 76 F-250 with the 35's and the plow frame is a bit of a boat anchor off the road, but the 77 F-150 4x4 shorty with a 4" lift and 33's that I drove was very impressive.
