Engine Dies

Here's the deal I have an 82 F150 302 automatic, dura spark II. I'm driving down the road and the engine just stops. Tack goes dead, sometimes it will start back up sometimes it takes a while. One time while driving down the road is engine running fine, I have no heater motor, and no power to turn signals, I pound on the steering column and everything starts working again. Now I can hardley get it to start. When I got it home, I got it started, while running the was no heater motor, no signal lights I pulled back gentley on the ingnition switch and it all works again. Question does the ingition switch have any electical connection that can go bad or is it at the end of the rod in the steering column? Or could it be something totaly different. Dont have a clue any help would be greatful.

it actually sounds like the ignition box or the actuating rod is messing up the electical could come from that easily it sits at the bottom of the steering column and has a rod that goes from the key tumbler to the switch which if the switch is bad it would cause that... you can check to see how much voltage is going to and fro from it or maybe just benifical to replace the switch out...
