Door ajar

I have a 2002 Ranger 4X4 with 50,000 miles that I just purchased.The door ajar light comes on when I make a semi hard right turn.I have replaced both of the switches in the doors but the light still comes on.Any ideas what might be the problem?

What happens if you pull or push on the driver's door pretty hard. Will it come on then?

Yes,I can get the light to briefly come on if I push and pull the door real hard.

I wonder if this truck was in an accident? Anyway, sounds like you may need to adjust the latch mechanism so it holds the door closer to the cab when it's shut.

Thanks for the info.The door is pretty tight when shut but I'll look into trying to adjust it.I'm sure it has not been wrecked.I've looked it over good and can't find any signs of any previous damage.

FYI.I called my local dealer and he said that if the door ajar switch did not fix my problem that the latch would need to be replaced.He said that this is a common problem because the latch is made mostly of plastic and will wear out.WTF!!!.This truck only has 50,000 miles on it.It find of sucks to have to replace a latch for this reason only.I'll probably just by pass the switch.
