My water pump is leaking from the weep hole. I was looking on ebay and see that there are pumps there by they are for direct injection. Can someone tell me what that means?
Powerstrokes are all direct injection. That means there is an injector for each cylinder, unlike the earlier trucks, that had the fuel injected into the intake, and was drawn into the cylinder by vacuum.
You don't specify what model year your truck is, but there were some changes to water pumps during the 94.5-97 model years. To eliminate some of the hassles, you're better off trying to find one for your model year. If your truck is 99.5 or newer, I think the water pumps are pretty much interchangeable.
