Saturday morning I was driving to my weekend drill and the stereo went dead. I checked the fuse box but I couldnt find any blown fuses. My owners manual is missing so I dont know which one is for the radio. If you guys could tell me which one it is it would be a big help. I know that sometimes these fuses may not look burned out but they still could be. The radio is the in dash 6 cd changer and the truck is a 2000 lariat extended cab.
mine's a '99, there wasn't many changes... try fuse #8... looking at the panel, the left side should be a row of relays then 3 rows of fuses (left to right) with a little zigzag to it. in the first row of fuses (left) count down 1, 2 (zig a little right) 3, 4, 5 (zig a little more) 6, 7, 8, 9 (zag to the left) 10, 11.
for what its worth, fuse 8 is also used for the main light switch. I looked at the service manual but did not see whether there is a separate fuse on the back of the radio itself.
Technitom's right there is no fuse on the back of the radio, and the one in the fuse box is normally an accesories fuse so when it goes normally you loose the radio and interior lights. It could be a wire or maybe even the radio itself. If you need a replcement radio I have one, just let me know Brandon
The fuse is good so the radio must not be. I'm looking to buy a set of those DIN tools to remove the radio with. Autozone up the street says they carry them but they are all out today and should have them tomorrow. Is there a way to get the 6 cd's out of it without power going to it?
I dont think so, unless you take the outer case off the radio and carefully take the cd's out. some single disc players have a tab inside you can push and then the cd pulls out but on a 6 disc you will have might have to ask Ford. probley have to rip it apart.
