I have a 02 Ranger with a 3.0 v6 wondering if there is any easy way i can convert it from 2 to 4 wheel drive, without costing a buttload. thanx for any help.
Any 4x4 conversion will cost a load. You are basically rebuilding the underpinnings of the truck.
If you have an Edge, it ain't that bad, since it is already a 4wd frame, but missing the front drive end and t-case and you can pretty much find a wrecked 4x4 to swap from.
If you have a pure 2wd frame truck, sell what you have and get a 4.0 4x4, since you'd very much dislike a 3.slow 4x4 in the end anyway.
the cheapest way to go about it is to just buy a 4x4 truck. there is alot of stuff that you would get into converting a 2wd truck to a 4wd that would add up, not to mention the time it would take.
i have a 99 4x4 ranger that i turned in to a 2x4 because it has a boxed frame and the 8.8 limed slip rear end i have costom uppers and lowers and a bomb spindal all boxed and king coilovers hidro bumps my fabricator mountrd a costum rack and pinon.i would like to turn it back into 4x4 the transfer case is still in place and i have all the parts. i would like to know how hard it would be to turn it back to 4x4 and if i would o get the same travle. just curious?
It would probably be a whole lot cheaper trading your truck in on a 4wd rather than converting your 2wd to a 4wd. It would be a whole lot easier that way and alot less troublesome.
