Yep this is a fairly easy swap, if the v8 is a small block (asuming both are either auto or both are manual), you will need the motor, motor mounts, and motor mount towers as well, the bellhousing partterns will be the same, then it wouldn't hurt to grab the rad to, but use the accesories from your 6 (alt and ps and aything else).

For the electronics though someone else will have to chime in here though of the efi stuff that's involved here.

I have an 86 with the 351 HO in it. If your going to the 351, you won't have to worry about FI system. Mine runs the old handy duraspark. I think its a matter of getting everything wired up. If memory serves me, the 6's and 302's ran FI. You might go to the 302 to see if the swap is easier. Check with your local or semi-local junkyards. I get alot of information from them at times as to what is needed for a swap. I am working on droping in a stroked 94 5.8 FI into mine. Look forward to seeing how it goes for ya.

Will the heads of my 351 HO fit the block of a 302? The engine was run without oil and although it still runs, it sounds like a auger is chewing up my crank shaft. I was thinking maybe i can switch my heads to a 302 if it's the same block.

you can but you have to get bushings for the holes for the head bolts.
they are bigger on a 351 than a 302

351 to 302

Thanks DT 466MAN, do you mean like fill the bolt shaft holes in the heads with bushings to accomodate smaller diameter bolts?
