88 bronco2 help

If i try to start my bronco it usually just shuts off. This may happen twice in a row. Now it does start better if i turn the key to the on position and wait 5 seconds as if i am letting the fuel pressure build up. Also there is a very prominent off idle miss when you hit the gas. More like a dead spot. I am wondering if my injectors are leaking or if i have low fuel pressure. I also want to check and see if my convertor may be clogged as this should have alot more power than it does. My brother has one a year newer and it would run circles around mine. His even has around 100,000 more miles than mine. Where do i go to find out what the running pressure should be and how to check my converter using a vacuum guage? Thanks for any help.

a dead spot could be the result of a bad throttle position sensor certainly sounds like a fuel problem perhaps a cloged fuel filter or bad fuel pump

If you suspect low fuel pressure, put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see. Ken00's tech info post has instructions, and you can get a gauge at any self-respecting parts store.

Also pull codes from the computer. Instructions are also in Ken00's tech info post.

If you hook a vacuum gauge up to the intake, bring it up to 2500rpms for a few minutes, if the vacuum starts to drop you MAY have a clogged cat.
