Question dipstick nightmare

I own a 1996 f-350 4x4 powerstroke with banks upgrades.I love the truck & have only had tranny issues with 115k miles. However, my last trip towing up our mountains, the oil dip stick came loose @ the pan & drenched the undercarrage .I was shocked to see the transition to the pan (looks like an after thought by a competitor) is loose & blew the oil all over. The local dealer claims the entire engine must be yanked and this is a typ. power strooke issue. Is this for real? Any repairs or honest advise would be greatly appreciated. This is my work truck & money is tight (when ain't it?) Casey

Search this forum for "7.3 oil dipstick leak" You'll find some folks that have been able to fix problems like yours without pulling the engine. Although, it does not sound like your dealer is outright yankin your chain.
