My 1998 5.4 liter is running perfectly, but for unknown reasons, the svc engine light went off at just a tad over 75,000 miles. Is this an emissions related warning or is it likely i have a problem? I know i need to get the code tested and may try autozone, but was curious if you were aware of a svc bulletin at 75,000 miles
I doubt that it has anything to to with your specific milage. In fact that's kinda low milage for a 98. Just get the code pulled at autozone, post the code # here and someone will help you out.
ok, thx. I was just wondering if it was emissions related and tied to mileage, at least that is what i was hoping. I will get the code today and put it on the board.
This is one of the more common codes to be seen, not this exact one, because there are a few different "slow response" codes depending upon the position of the sensor.
You can clear the code and you might not see the same code again for a year or two, then you might see it a few times a week or two apart and then it might go again for a year or two.
I would suggest that you get an inexpensive scanner and then clear the code. If it comes back again, do not clear it again until you verify that it is the same code.
Odds are that you can clear the code and it will not reoccur for a long time, but anything can happen.
