Motor Noise

Did I read on here or was I dreaming one night, that a winter blend of fuel will make the PSD more noisey? Filled up a couple of days ago and must have got a good dose of No1 as It sure sounds more noisey to me...course it's been around 5 below to 15 above here the last 10 days. Doesn't sound any more noisey when the motor is cold versa warmed up.

It might have been me. I have 99 sd 7.3. I run stanadyne in every tank(or try to) Every once in a while i forget to grab a bottle as i'm leaving. When i don't run the addative (especially in the winter) my injecters rattle like crazy!! I'm always listening to my engine. I think its becuase winter fuel doesn't have as much lubrication as summer fuel. I notice it louder in summer as well but not as bad as in the winter. Try some addative in your next couple of tanks and let me know if you notice a differance. I know i sure do!!!

Yeah I'm with you on this on lancer. Mine does the same thing and I use Diesel Kleen, (easier to find). If I don't the engine sounds like a gasser with the timing way too advanced while on the freeway.

I go along with those observations also. I have been filling up at a Mom & Pop station with one pump, but they are about .08 higher that the Hess. I started filling up at the Hess and started to notice what sounded like a gasser spark knocking a little. I needed to fill up Sun., so after reading this I went to my old station and within 5 miles the excess noise was gone. I was beginning to think that I had injector problems, so thanks to you all.
