throw-out wizzing
I have an '87 f250 4x2 w/a 302. 4 spd manual tranny.the throw-out bearing wizzes/chatters when the clutch is let out. the clutch never slips and performs fine. Is there a way to quiet it down w/out pulling the tranny and changing the clutch?

Check your clutch fork and it sounds like you need to replace the bearing prior to it's seizing and ruining your clutch. I don't know how many miles you have on the current clutch, but if I had a manual and was going to replace the throwout bearing, I'd replace the clutch while I was there. All it takes is standard hand tools, sockets, and an alignment tool (get a hard plastic one from the local auto parts store for around $7.00 to $15.00. Have your flywheel surfaced while there also and pay attention to torque specs for re-installation.
