Hi guys,
I have a 2005 f-250 that is blowing hot air. 2 months ago I ran into a 200 lb. deer going about 45mph. I had just bought the truck the day before too, had under 200 miles on it. Here is the thing, I just got it back from the from the auto body shop about 3 weeks ago and it seems like it is blowing hot air (it has been cold the past weeks since I got the truck back, I did not note it before) I hit the deer head-on with my truck so the A/C radater was smashed, looked like a taco. So it got replaced. I am thinking thay gave me the truck back with no Freon in it. But I wanted to check before I went back to talk to auto shop. Is there a way for me to check before I go back.....
Most, if not all, body/paint shops aren't equipped to service A/C systems. Check your invoice to see if the truck was farmed out for evacuation and recharge; the system had to be opened up to replace the condensor coil.
I am not sure what the shop did. I checked the invoice and it did not say, just that it had been replaced. There is something about 2.4 hours for replacing it from the list. I will know the story soon, I am going to talk to them monday.
Yeah, sounds like it was left empty. Don't know who's paying (you or the insurance co.), but it's a good idea to replace the accumulator/drier anytime the system has been opened up and not evacuated and charged immediately. If it was my truck, I'd sure have it replaced. Good luck!
yeah the dryer should be replaced and if you have been running the a/c and the pump comes on with no r134-a in it , it will ruin the pump because it needs the oil to run through and lubricate the system
