I took the headliner out of my '63 last summer. I would like to put it in but the sweating of the roof is unreal, with the drastic weather changes we have. What do you suggest to keep from ruining the headliner from all the sweating?
originally, some trucks had insulation pad....jute stuff essentially....glued to roof of truck...I would do that but with reflective type barrier for heat/cold and moisture. i would put some at rear overhang area on inside..none there originally....
Hope this gives ya ideas....just dont cover screw holes on edges and one in center.....
Hi Pete, One of the reasons that you see the moisture is because the interior climate is exposed to the metal and not the cardboard, and reacts differently. Adding insulation and the headliner will cause that to change.
I installed (3 in 1) insulation; I place the insulation portion against the roof & the aluminum side downwards; also installed it under the floor cover; Its called 3in1 because it insulate against heat,cold & noise. My roof section (insulation) is in two section splitting the center cross brace. Its a great product can be found in almost any parts catalog to include J.c Whitney.
Opus;
The actual product from J.c Whitney I purchase was item # ZX250705N for now $19.95 and their offering free shipping today; Its was regular price when I bought it last year or so. Like I said earlier I also purchase two rolls and did my floor board as well.
Hope this helps out. It was alittle tight putting the headliner back in with insulation first, just trim insluation to lay in the front lip of your roof edge and sides; also I didn't cover the center brace with insluation as well.
