cd overheating

Anyone else have troubles with their CD player when taking long trips? Mine quits working about an hour into the drive. I'm still under warranty, maybe I should force them to replace....even though I know its a design flaw that causes it, and its not the actual stereo that is the problem.

Ditto with my '04 XLT - no CD problems on lots of long trips.

My CD player works fine, too ('04 XLT; 6 disc changer). However, I notice that when I eject a CD from the chnager, it is very, very warm, almost too hot to the touch. Not sure if it is due to the heater (around 0 degrees right now here in Chicago), or the player itself.

there are other posts on this, including from me. My player also heats up, and the problem appears to be worse with CD-R's. Ford told me the unit is not designed to play anything but store-bought cd's and were not willing to swap out my unit. I solved my problem by installing a 6cd changer in the armrest that is controlled by the ford in dash head unit. If you locate the other posts, some said that they don't have problems with either CDR's or store bought ones in their units, so I'm not sure what the bottom line is.
