wheels

I recently read that my little 82f100 can also use 16 and 17 inch wheels (it has 15 inch now). other than messing up the speedometer is there an advantage to running the larger wheels? better ride? increased payload? Negative changes?
I am thinking of changing to the 16 inch wheel so any comments would be appreciated and helpful.
thanks.

you can order wheels all the way up to the newer 22in rim. as far as advantages, wellllllll, there realy aint none. if you go with a bigger rim and the same diameter tire you have less sidewall between the edge of the rim and the edge of the pothole. if you go with a larger diameter tire, you will lose lowend power. as far as increasing the load capicity, you can put a 10 ply tire on the 15 inch wheel if you want to, but the load range of your truck will still be the same. some trucks look better with larger diameter rims, and some dont.

Thanks for the input. I sort of imagined that it would be mostly for looks but didn't really know for sure.

Speaking oflooks and wheels, are there any wheel /tire dealers that'll let you try on different combos and see what you like? It'd be an interesting business gimmick...
