hi I have a 85 with a 460 that HAD 2 tanks now just a back one(with a in tank fuel pump)(NOT fuel injected) someone has ran gas line from it to the carb, they took out the 6-port fuel selector valve, will it run with out the selector valve? and I've heard the oil pressure sender unit has something to do with the starting- fuel? Thanks,Rick
It should run without the valve, but you may have some wiring to do. They had many different variations on these fuel systems, and one variation actually had switch in the valve itself. I don't have my diagrams with me, but I think the switch in the valve was used for the fuel guage sender. The switch on the dash switched the power for the fuel pumps.
Some of them did have the oil pressure switch thing. All it was for, is to turn off the pumps incase the engine stalled. It has a feed coming off the ignition switch to give power to the fuel pump relay in start mode. After the engine started, the the power to the fuel pump relay is routed through a oil pressure switch. All of this is up front, and hopefully nobody has changed any of it's wiring.
