What about a tried and true Hi-lift?
You can get bottle jacks that lift high enough. You only need one that lifts around 15" or so depending on tire size.
What happened to your oem jack?

Not the best application for the tried and true Hi-Lift (30+ years in Jeeps and SWB's, I feel qualified to make that comment) Why pick up the whole body and frame all the way to the top of the suspension travel if you don'y have to? Same problem with the OEM jack - and most modern vehicles don't really have a good place for the Hi-Lift to catch withouty damaging the bumper.
Bottle jack is the most cost effective (I carry one in the Jeep as well as the Hi-Lift), floor jack is the easiest solution.
I'm a fan of floor jacks for around the house, I like a bottle jack for roadside stuff, and a 48" hi-lift for tons of other things. I also carry the bottle and hi-lift all the time. Get you a good set of 3 ton or higher rated lift stands as well. Better safe than sorry.

I agree. I have two sets of 5 ton stands, tend to loan one set out from time to time (like when I catch the neighbor stacking firewood under his lowered F150 as a jackstand).
Back when I was about 5, I watched the Fire Department pull a guy out from under a car that had collapsed a bumper jack (and those were _heavy_ cars in the 60's). Chrushed his chest and killed him - looked like mashed strawberries. Sorta sticks with you - so I tend to walk over to people I don't know with jackstands in hand and a "I think you might need these" comment.
Why not stop by and borrow my 3 ton floor jack? Can't beat the price!!! Still, I must agree, one of the most used (and abused) shop tools is my heavy duty floor jack.
You hit the nail on the head, Old Fart. When I was younger and dumber, I had a 76 pickup fall off a stand and trap me underneath for about an hour. Didn't get hurt real bad, but it sure gave me a lot of time to think about it. I'm a fan of lifting safety now.
