power steering gear box
I just recently replaced my power steering pump and hoses. I noticed I still have a little leak from the gear box. Can anyone tell me how tuff it is to rebuild this, should I have it done proffesionally. Is there a kit for this. Does anyone know of any rebuilders and what I might expect to pay for this,

I have seen rebuilt ones from Ford dealers for $283 (-$100 if your return the old core)... at least for my 83.
I think I have seen rebuild kits for them online, but I know my Haynes recommends not messing with the gearbox unit on power steering gearboxes.

If your talking about replacing the seals (input shaft and/or pitman) its not that hard. If you want to rebuild the entire unit (for wear) you may be better off buying a rebuilt if your not that handy with tools. The input shaft seal is realitively easy to change with basic hand tools, the output (pitman arm) shaft requires a puller to remove the shaft. After that its mnot a big deal.
